Michael Basinski performs improvisational sound poems as a solo poet and in ensemble with his group BuffFluxus. Smashing words, he releases the pixies within them, which allows for projective poetic trajectories to take the place of lines in the poems. He speaks with and harnesses the duende. He performs OPEMS, a form of poem that has multiple entry access points. He engages in visual, verbal, improvisational, paganal poetrys all merged and juxtaposed. He starred in John Huston's The Roots of Heaven and played God in Al Eaker's The Gospel According to Yes.

He is the Curator of The Poetry Collection, SUNY at Buffalo.
